This post is dedicated to the coming week, 14th June through to the summer solstice on the 21st. The challenge is to eat ‘from scratch’. I can see many of you wondering ‘so what’s the big deal with that?’
It is for us. Consider this – a strict vegan diet (so no milk, yoghurt or even ghee), no processed food and absolutely nothing that comes out of a box(bye bye coffee, sugar and cereals), not even honey or sweeteners of any kind (all processed!) Now think back to the A-Z baking challenge in April. I’m sure you’ve got the picture.
The interesting bit of the challenge is coming up with what to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner and of course, then prepping and cooking it.
Our yoga class is preparing for the coming solstice on the 21st of June and getting our bodies and minds season-ready.
Bring it on! I’m so looking forward to trying out new ingredients and new meal plans.
It’s going to be a busy week so you’ll most probably see time delayed posts.
Watch this space.
PS: Here’s an interesting link I found, if you’d like to learn more about the connection between seasonal diets, yoga and the summer solstice.
How difficult the diet sounds!! Not even milk, honey and sweetners! :O All I can say is it takes a brave heart to plung into it!
Thanks, Swathi. No coffee in the day is the hard bit. We’re on day 2 and still sane. 🙂
Wow! I can’t imagine getting through the day without coffee and that would include milk and sweetener too. Quite a challenge!
Thanks, Debbie. I’m hoping to keep my sanity getting through this week. The coffee is the hardest bit.
Eat from Scratch! Interesting! Never heard about this. Looking forward to know your meal plans for the week!
Shilpa, I’m sure it wasn’t that difficult for our mums and grandmums who didn’t have access to all the ready made stuff that we do.
If you stick to a mainly Indian meal plan, it’s relatively easier but still needs time. The tough bit is managing it in a work week. Thanks for your comments. Fingers crossed on getting through this week. 🙂
